Rita began her career as a middle school teacher, but her natural gifts quickly led her down the path of entrepreneurship. For over 40 years, she has thrived as a businesswoman, starting as a partner in a fashion boutique, then becoming the founder and CEO of Mirror Enterprise Inc. (MEI), a professional and personal development training company. MEI specialized in Leadership, Diversity, Customer Service, and Team Building, and provided soft skills training to nearly 3,000 individuals transitioning from welfare to work in Richmond City and the surrounding counties. In 2005, Rita passed the torch to her daughter—formerly MEI’s COO.

In that same year, she embarked on a deeply personal journey of self-assessment, searching not just for her next career move but for her true purpose. It was a spiritual journey, a quest to understand who she was and who she was meant to become. Along the way, she wore many hats: working as a stylist for DONCASTER clothing, serving as an independent consultant for Arbonne, volunteering with nonprofits, traveling through parts of Italy, and stepping into the role of a life coach. But even with all those experiences, she knew something was still missing. She was still searching for her WHY… the reason she was placed on this planet.

In 2011, Rita completed a two-year study at The RUAH School of Spiritual Direction, where she was trained in the ministry of Spiritual Direction within the framework of Contemporary Urban Christian Spirituality. One of the most transformative aspects of the program was the requirement to spend, over the course of two years, 6-24 hours in complete silence—a practice that taught her how to truly listen in the silence. That experience shifted the trajectory of her life. Through stillness and reflection, Rita discovered her passion, embraced her gifts, and aligned fully with her purpose. She found her WHY!  As a Transformation Expert, Rita’s mission is to help individuals remove the internal barriers that prevent them from creating the life they were born to live.

In addition to launching Rita Ricks LLC, Rita spent eight years as the lead facilitator for The New Virginia: Scaling4Growth—a six-month program offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia and designed by INTERISE. This hands-on, peer-driven curriculum focused on strategic assessment, cash flow management, building profitable sales, and scaling for growth. Her outstanding facilitation skills earned her the Leadership in Facilitation and Training Award.

Today, Rita shows clients how to move from chaos to clarity—from stress, frustration, and feeling stuck to living with purpose, passion, and peace.  Through electrifying speaking engagements that awaken the soul and shift mindsets, Rita delivers a message you didn’t know you needed but will never forget. At 76 plus vibrant years young, and a trailblazer in the realm of personal growth and transformation, she passionately advocates for disrupting outdated notions of aging, proving every day that life’s best chapters are yet to be written. Paired with her one-on-one coaching, group sessions, masterclasses, and international retreats, she empowers individuals to crush fear, silence doubt, and unapologetically claim lives of purpose, passion, and unstoppable peace.

Rita earned her B.S. in Sociology from Virginia State University and her M.Ed. in Adult Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She received executive management certificates from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Rita lives in Richmond, Va., loves swing dancing, smooth jazz, and grooming her two granddaughters to be all they can be. She is proud to call Dr. Lance D. Watson her Pastor and Saint Paul’s Baptist Church her Church home. She is a breast cancer survivor since 1999.

Her personal mantra, which she wrote, is “What You Do Today, Forms Your Tomorrow.”   She is in Act 3 of her journey and LOVING and LIVING LIFE!
